Not surprising RISD is at the forefront in articulating the indispensible role the arts play in education…something we’ve always known…the arts unleash student’s creativity and give them the opportunity to envision and create. With the development of the new technologies and the current push for Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, the need to actively promote the arts will become increasingly important.

The arts are about creativity and innovation…they provide students the opportunity to learn how to encounter and recognize novel situations…aggregate all the other pieces of learning they have and apply it in novel ways…in the end it’s that kind of mental and intellectual agility that is going to really transform the success of our students in the post secondary environment their entering….
